GC - Generation Chosen (7-12th Grade)
Why the name GENERATION CHOSEN?
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light...”
1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)
We believe that teenagers have a special place in God’s redemptive plan for our world. Our goal is to help teenagers realize their position as people who have been chosen to worship and do the work of God. Just as God has rescued us from the destruction of sin and death (Col. 1:13), we believe that we have a biblical mandate to do the same for others.
What do we VALUE?
We believe that no organization can function at its highest, most impactful level without values. At GC, our core values are at the center of everything we do, and drive every facet of our ministry. These are not just a stated creed or fancy slogans, they are the heartbeat of our ministry
• We value teenagers because teenagers matter to God (Jer. 1:5)
Everything we do is geared toward teenagers. Everything. From the worship to the teaching, to the aesthetics of our facility. This is our central focus in ministry. Our high priority to be relevant to teenagers helps us reach them right where they are, not where we think they should be. No matter what they look like, or what their lifestyle is, our goal is to create an environment where teenagers will be comfortable so that they are able to be challenged by the Gospel
• We value practical, biblical teaching that will comfort and challenge our students (John 6:63, Jer. 23:29)
Whether it is during a Wednesday night service, on a Sunday morning, or in one of our Life Groups, we believe that the best way to make a significant impact in the life of a teenager is through practical, biblical teaching. Teenagers are constantly being pushed and pulled by a multitude of influences from many different outlets. When we communicate God’s word with clarity and conviction to a student, we help to form a Godly foundation as outside influences are quieted.
• We value excellence in everything we do (Col. 3:23-24)(2 Tim. 2:15)
Everything we do as a youth ministry, we want to do with excellence. That means that we have a high production value during our mid-week service, that we execute our events and activities professionally and orderly. There is no doubt that effectively reaching out to the students in our community is going to take hard work. We take to heart Paul’s charge to Timothy, “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed...” (2 Tim. 2:15).
What is GC?
Generation Chosen Youth Ministries can be easily defined as the youth facet of the Inspire Church vision. We believe that reaching the millennial generation requires more action than response, and as a result our approach toward bringing and developing teenagers is very active.
Jesus called for leaders to make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:19-20). Our bringing and developing strategies are key parts of what we do at GC. Rescue, Renew, and Release is a step by step process of Spiritual maturity. We bring students in through a welcoming, relevant atmosphere to share the Gospel with them. Every week we connect with students and do our best to bring the healing power of God spiritually, emotionally, and physically into their lives. We develop them to be Christ-like leaders in the marketplace (school, home, work, etc.) through solid, practical biblical teaching, and authentic discipleship. Finally, it is our goal to send them out into their world as agents of change who will bring others out of darkness into His light.
